About THe
Delaware Valley Opera Company
Making opera accessible, enjoyable, and affordable for all audiences
Since 1979 the Delaware Valley Opera Company has been a mainstay in the Philadelphia arts community, bringing artists and audiences together to experience and celebrate this truly unique artform. DVOC began as a community of singers, artists and avid opera fans that pulled their skills and creativity to produce fully staged operas in an amphitheater in Fairmount Park. (This is why DVOC’s logo is a leaf!) Performances are no longer outdoors, but DVOC remains true to its roots: to provide performers and
audiences with quality opera experiences, whether it is their first or their 100th.
The mission of the Delaware Valley Opera Company is threefold:
- to present creative productions of mainstream operas, along with lesser-known but important repertoire, and to commission and program world premieres,
- to offer training and education in all facets of operatic production and performance to
Delaware Valley area singers, conductors, directors, and other artists, with special focus
on bringing new, young talent into the opera world, and… - to make opera accessible, enjoyable, and affordable for all audiences.
